Who should take Neurology Matters in Couples Therapy courses?

Courses are intermediate level, geared for practicing couples therapists, but others are welcome.

How and when do I pay? 

Payment for any of the courses is required at the time of registration via PayPal.

Are there discounts for groups?

Can I get a refund after I pay for a course?

Once you have started the course, you will not be eligible for a refund. However, if circumstances arise that prevent you from starting a course after you have paid for it, you may reach out to Grace Myhill at [email protected] to discuss the possibility of receiving a partial refund.

If AANE needs to cancel or reschedule a course, you will be offered a full refund.

Can I take these courses on my computer, tablet, or smartphone?

These courses will work on the latest versions of most major browsers on computers, tablets, and smartphones.

How do I join AANE's Community of trained neurodiverse couples therapists?

With TRAINING 101, you will be given a one year membership to AANE's Neurology Matters Online Community of trained neurodiverse couples therapists.


TRAINING 101: FUNDAMENTALS OF WORKING WITH NEURODIVERSE COUPLES IN THERAPY

Are there prerequisites for this course?

There are no prerequisites for this foundation course. It is an intermediate level course, geared for practicing couples therapists.

How long do I have to complete this course?

You have access to TRAINING 101 for 90 days from the date you registered.

TRAINING 101 takes approximately 10 hours to complete, with an additional estimated time of 2 to 3 hours for readings and quizzes. 

What do I get upon successful completion of TRAINING 101?

After completing all parts of the course, scoring  80% or better on each part of the final test, and completing the course evaluation, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for TRAINING 101. Successful completion is a prerequisite to be eligible to take the CERTIFICATION 201 course. If an ADD-ON course for CE credits is purchased, completion of TRAINING 101 and an additional course evaluation survey are required to receive CE credit.

What if I don’t pass the final test?

The final test is divided into sections. After completing a test for a particular section, you will be shown your score and asked if you would like to retake the test. Retake the test until you receive a score of 80% or better for each section in order to pass the course and receive your Certificate of Completion.

Who are the instructors?

The course was developed by Grace Myhill, MSW, LICSW. She is the primary instructor. The course also includes lectures by other experts in the field of neurodiverse couples therapy. In addition, neurodiverse couples are also our best teachers.

Can I share the course materials?

You may keep the downloadable PDFs for your ongoing use. Any use or reproduction of any of the Neurology Matters in Couples Therapy materials requires approval from AANE.


CERTIFICATION  201: CASE PRESENTATIONS AND ADVANCED TOPICS IN NEURODIVERSE COUPLES THERAPY

Are there prerequisites for this course?

The prerequisite for Certification 201 is the successful completion of Training 101.

When do the classes meet?

CERTIFICATION 201 consists of eight, 90-minute live meetings. Small groups of 5-8 participants are continually forming. We customize the scheduling of class times to meet your needs.

How long does it take to complete this course?

This interactive live video conference course consists of eight 90 minute meetings. The schedule will be arranged based on the availability of those interested, but typically video meetings will occur either every week or every two weeks. 

What is the size of the class?

The classes are small groups of 5 - 8 participants to provide you with the opportunity for personalized attention and consultation on your cases. 

What constitutes successful completion?

Passing the course includes attendance at all eight video conference sessions and submitting an audio recording of a session showing competency in treating a neurodiverse couple. With successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for the CERTIFICATION 201 course. You will also be listed in AANE's professional database as an AANE trained and certified neurodiverse couples therapist.

Who are the instructors?

CERTIFICATION 201 is taught by Grace Myhill with Q & A sessions with neurodiverse couples and other therapists in the field.


CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT

Do you offer CE credits for Training 101?

Currently we offer 10 APA CE credits for TRAINING 101. 

Psychologists: APA CE Credits are recognized for Licensed Clinical Psychologists in all US states. 

Social Workers, Professional Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists: APA approved courses are now recognized and accepted for CE credit for Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists in most states*. 

*We recommend you check with your board to see if they will accept APA (American Psychological Association) approved CE credits before purchasing the class. Each state determines the number of APA credits it will accept towards license renewal.

To apply for CE credits, purchase an ADD-ON CE course from the BUY page. Approval to earn the CE credits requires successful completion of TRAINING 101 with an 80% or better on each part of the final test and the completion of a course evaluation survey. Learn more.

We do not offer Continuing Education Credits for Certification 201.
